It’s All About The Ground Game, Dummy!

Running a Smart Campaign – Part 1

Assumption
The first assumption I prefer is that there will not be large amounts of money available. If the big donors step forward, that’s lovely, but I stand in unpopular territory. I believe elections are won with dedicated volunteers and a top notch get-out-the-vote operation, backed with smart messaging.
Smart ground games need not cost huge amounts of money. There are a lot of “ifs” attached to that statement, but it is a conservative (in a good sense) assumption. Why not plan on a guerrilla marketing campaign? Then, if lots of money is raised, there will surely be ways to spend it.
Being a Believer
A  fundamental question we have to ask ourselves is whether we believe in ourselves and our campaign, and do we believe in our candidate? The first question seems absurd, but I have seen people launch campaigns for the oddest of reasons, where it was clear they did not expect to put forth essential effort or they were not facing reality. Of course, it is up to us, who are thinking of supporting a candidate, to decide if we really believe.
If we believe, then we seek a variety of ways to promote and support the candidacy. And that should, in all eventualities, go to something more than sending glossy brochures and buying advertising.
Getting Their Attention
Advertising people will tell you that it takes repeated contact to make a connection with people. That piece of conventional wisdom I buy absolutely. So, then it becomes a matter of how we get their attention;  and that takes thinking and planning.
In general, I also believe that most people don’t want to pay attention to politics. They have jobs, families, friends and a variety of interests. Why would they care about what we have to say, unless it is compelling or we make it compelling?
Standing Out and Making Sense
Standing out takes showing up in a variety of ways, especially when there is a lot of competition for attention. To do that takes careful attention to available alternatives. My special favorite is the one supported by research: A simple piece of literature stuck in the front door. That means a clear simple message for the particular segment of the population behind that door. It should be low cost and use trained volunteers for delivery. Why trained? Because not everyone is comfortable face-to-face, and often, people open the door when we are dropping off our message. Volunteers need to know how to handle it. And, of course, a lot depends upon finding people who are willing to get involved as volunteers.
There can be many parts to this smart, frugal ground game. It takes planning and paying careful attention, particularly as it relates to the location and campaign type.

The Wolf Pac Is Coming!

Our politicians are bought. Everyone knows it. Conservatives know it. Liberals know it. The Democrats are bought. The Republicans are bought. They don’t represent us. They represent their corporate donors who fund their campaigns and promise them well-paying jobs after they leave office. We effectively have taxation without representation. Our democracy is in serious trouble.

What happened? CLICK HERE to find out.

So what can we do to regain our ability to make our votes count and take back our democracy? We have to concentrate all of our resources into one single attack – making sure we take corporate money out of politics. The only way to do that is to bypass the corporate-owned Congress and the Supreme Court – and pass a Constitutional amendment. We must pass an amendment saying that corporations are not people and they do not have the right to spend money to buy our politicians.

The objective of Wolf PAC will be to raise money and raise an army for the sole purpose of passing this amendment. We need a Constitutional revolution to get unlimited corporate money out of politics. Please join us and help retake our democracy.

Join the Fight

The objective of Wolf PAC is not theory, it is results. We will pass the amendment and we will regain our democracy. Here is how we’re going to do it.

We must gather up a fighting force. We need programmers and organizers and lawyers and leaders. We need this movement to be in all 50 states. So, first we are doing a call for generals in this army. Please write us and tell us what your expertise is and how you can help.

Our Congress is completely infected with the virus. So proposing an amendment through Congress seems hopeless. But luckily there is another way. We can do this purely at the state level. The states can call for a constitutional convention and they can ratify an amendment that comes out of one. And there is nothing our corrupt federal government can do about it.

We are hoping that the first wave of volunteers help us organize at the state level. Let’s go occupy the states!

Rep. Andy Harris’ Response To The President’s Jobs Proposal

The following is Rep. Andy Harris’ (R-MD) response to the President’s speech to the Joint Session of Congress.  Excuse me, Mr. Congressman, but you have GOT to be kidding, right?  You must be drinking at the Ron Paul (R-TX) and Rick Perry (R-TX) trough, where minimum wage (and less) jobs are king and migrant workers are preferred over American teens.  I challenge the Congressman to tell us what “job creators” he spoke to on the Boardwalk: the arcades, the temporary food vendors, the seasonal musicians…WHO?

"We need more Boardwalk Job Creators!"

The “Job Creators” on the Boardwalk bring in part-timers (no benefits) from foreign countries (THAT’S the way to support the youth of America) who, at the end of the summer, either go back to their countries or stay and go to school here.  Meanwhile the “Job Creators” close up their Boardwalk enterprises and kick back for the winter, while collecting unemployment benefits.  GOOD WORK IF YOU CAN FIND IT, HUH, CONGRESSMAN?  Oh, wait…you did!

President Obama’s Jobs Plan: Stimulus II

“Over Labor Day weekend, I met with many small business owners on the Ocean City Boardwalk – a common theme I heard from those potential job creators was their desire to get government out of the way so that they could do what they do best: grow their businesses and create American jobs.  President Obama’s newest spending plan is nothing more than a second Stimulus bill.  Just like the first Stimulus passed by the previous Congress, it will not create jobs, but instead delay recovery, increase the debt and grow the size of government.  I believe that common sense ideas like a balanced budget amendment, elimination of job-destroying regulations and making America energy independent will create American jobs and get us out of this recession.”
